The Pause journal

What’s on
your mind?

Some things come out as words. Others arrive as a color, a scribble, or a stick figure. Your illustrated journal makes room for all of it.

Beginning, middle, and ending pages offer questions, space to write and draw, and coloring pages to enjoy.

“Follow what seems interesting, skip what doesn’t, and return whenever you’d like.”

Questions about The Pause

Still have a question? Ask Kristen.

Who is The Pause retreat for?

The Pause is for people who spend much of their time tending to responsibilities and are ready to make some space for themselves. Maybe you’re at a crossroads, wondering what’s next, or simply wanting a fresh perspective on something important in your life.

If you value time for reflection, enjoy exploring your inner world, and appreciate having some guidance while still doing things your own way, The Pause was created with you in mind.

What is the goal of The Pause retreat?

The Pause gives you a chance to step away from your everyday responsibilities and familiar ways of thinking. When you give yourself permission to rest from all the usual doing, something begins to unwind inside. Your mind has room to settle, new perspectives can emerge, and you may discover fresh insights about the questions, decisions, or possibilities that matter to you.

Where does The Pause retreat take place?

The retreat can take place anywhere. Choose a space where you will have minimal interruptions. You can do the retreat in your home, at the library, in the woods, or anywhere you want to. You can move from one space to another. The Pause is designed with a flexible structure that can travel with you.

How long is the retreat?

It’s suggested that you set aside a 7–8 hour block of time for this retreat.

What happens during the retreat?

Your retreat day has three gentle anchors: beginning, middle, and end. At each anchor, you’ll listen to a guided meditation and spend some time with your journal to help you reflect, notice what’s happening within you, and discover new perspectives.

Everything in between is yours! You might take a walk, color, read, nap, daydream, or simply enjoy doing nothing. There’s no schedule to keep or list of activities to complete. The guidance gives your day some structure while leaving plenty of room to follow what feels right for you.

Can I talk with people during the retreat?

It’s better not to talk with people during the retreat unless they are supporting you with your retreat goal. For example, if you have a coach or counselor, it may be helpful to have a session with them during your retreat.

How many people is this retreat for?

The retreat is designed for one person. All of the retreat materials for one person are in The Pause box. If you desire to do the retreat with more than one person, purchase a Pause box for each participant.

Can I work on projects during my retreat?

Ultimately, you can do what you want during your retreat. Reflect on how doing the project supports your retreat experience and use your discernment.

What if I get bored during my retreat?

Let yourself be bored. Some of the most inspired ideas have arisen from boredom.
